5 TIPS FOR OPTIMIZING YOUR LINKEDIN PROFILE
#1: ADD KEYWORDS TO YOUR HEADLINE
Use keywords that tie to your desired jobs, industry & profession
- If you want to appear in search results, you need to properly identify what words people are using to find a person like you. What words would recruiters’ type to find you? These search terms are your keywords
#2: COMPLETE YOUR SUMMARY
Write your summary in the first person. Writing in the first person shows you as “human”
Build an ad for yourself that speaks directly to the needs of your target market and to your credibility. You only get 2000 characters so make every word count and include keywords
#3: SKILLS & ENDORSEMENTS
When you list relevant skills, you will be messaged up to 31x more by recruiters and other members.
- Adding skills and expertise makes it easy for your connections to endorse you for your strengths and knowledge, as well as helping you show up in relevant searches.
#4: YOUR EXPERIENCE
LinkedIn recommends adding at least 3 recent jobs
- Include description for each, including the achievements you are proudest of. Having three most recent positions makes your profile 12x more likely to be found on LinkedIn
#5: A PROFILE PICTURE
Don’t include others in your picture
- Take advantage of the space available by uploading a profile picture that is at least 200px by 200px
